Minutes - March 29, 2009

Northeastern Federation of Stamp Clubs Minutes of the March 29, 2009 BoD Meeting was held at the Spellman Museum of Stamp History at Regis College in Weston, Massachusetts.

REMINDER OF NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, May 3, 2009, at Philatelic Show 2009 at the Holiday Inn, Boxboro, MA.

There was a quorum of the BOD. President Jack Miller called the meeting together at 1:05 pm.

Secretary's Report:
Len Andexler's report of the January 25, 2009 was accepted as written with one modification from Mark Butterline to remove the short-term contract line relative to the federation's web site.

Webmaster's Report:
Mark distributed a graph of the Nefed.Org web site unique visits for the months of April 08 through March 09. There was a high of 3,900 visits in August 08 to a low of 2,100 visits in December 08. For the month of March (to March 28), the graph showed there were 2,250 visits to the website. Mark was commended by the BOD on doing an excellent job. He said the web site now has a good server. The web site provides links to 25 dealer sites (out of 70 total).

Treasurer's Report:
Bruce mentioned there are still 9 stamp clubs who have not paid their 2009 dues. He will follow up with mailing to these clubs that their 'dues are due'. The BOD had voted a donation to the APRL of $250.00 which has yet to be sent to the APRL. 2 NeFsc CD's are due in October with interest rates of 3.25% & 3.24%.

Youth Activities Report :
Len talked about youth involvement in the schools. Bruce will be meeting with Lynnfield school persons to set up a program for the coming year. He is also working with the Boys & Girls Club of Leominster (600 members) to set up a program on April 6 & 13. The Clara Barton Club will be working with the Joslin Camp on a program. Bruce, Len and Norm will meet with Henry Lucas to discuss how the NeFsc Youth Activities could interact with the Museum on programs.

New Business:
Need to provide 2009-2010 Nominating Committee for BOD.

PHILATELIC SHOW 2009: The budget is set the same as the PS2008 actuals. The show theme will be the 100th anniversary of the Lincoln Cent. (Jeff showed the cover for the show with the Lincoln cachet. Contracts have been sent to 70 dealers, no change in security. There are 30 exhibits with 170 frames . Chelmsford Stamp Club is to set-up frames for the Youth Room with set-up April 30 after 2 pm. Jeff has signed the contract for 2011 show at the Boxboro Holiday Inn. We will keep options for future sites.

President Jack Miller adjourned the meeting at 2:10 p.m.
